2 years aqo I was working in an insurance office in the UK.

It was a job - paid the rent.

Insurance wasn't my thing. I liked connecting with people and sometimes I could go 'beyond my suit and tie' and connect beyond the job.

Then through a set of circumstances, I came across a small fledgling organisation called PHI run by a woman with a massive vision.

My life changed from that moment on.

After 6 months I gave up my job with no real sense of security and just leapt head first into PHI

Since then - i have never looked back.

I became a director of one of the UK's first Social Enterprise Co-operatives - a not -for profit community interest company

I then helped set up The PHI (HealthCare Trust) a not fo profit soon to be registered charity.



This is what the founder of PHI, Christine,  wrote recently about her work

4 years ago I had a vision. It was a simple vision.

I had been lucky to have been taken care of, in 3 very intense pregnancies and births, by some Complementary Therapists.

I wanted other people to have the same care.
I started by getting a team of experts together.

Doctors, professors, business people and therapists.
Over the last few years the Vision has grown.

The Cafe PHI project is about empowering disadvantaged people throughout the world to get a better life.

It is about direct action, on the ground, in the world, using all the skills available, to make a difference.

Cafe PHI is a way of reaching out. Giving everyone a chance

Cafe PHI is a new form of social entrepreneurship.

We are developing here in the UK, a business similar to The Body Shop. A chain of Cafes. We call these, 'Cafes with a Conscience'.

And the concept is simple.

Set up profitable businesses - give the profits to helping the community.

a) By providing work for people who are struggling and supporting them to get back on track.

b) By helping people learn to manage their health through Complementary Medicine and therapies

My vision now is to see Cafe PHI projects in every city in the world.

We can do this together
This is a revolution. A global healthcare revolution.

I became hooked! Overwhelmed by the vision!

I am here now on this place to meet kindred spirits.
